New Features
Application Icon
: An additional icon will be shown if beGPS is running in the background with tracking set to off. The icon has a red frame if tracking is off and a green frame if tracking is on.
As long as beGPS is running the GPS receiver will be held on which increases the power consumption. With the new icon the user can detect if beGPS is running by mistake and reduces battery life time.
Vmax
: Display of the maximum speed in the section Movement. The value is saved persistent and can be resetted via the menu.
Text E-Mails
: When setting the communication protocol to E-Mail beGPS offers now the option to send the E-Mails in the same Text format which is used when sending the last location as E-Mail via the Menu or a Convenience Key. Additional the first line contains the BlackBerry PIN (Personal Identification Number), which is a unique identifier for a BlackBerry Smartphone.
beGPS one
: Sending the last known location via E-Mail is now available in beGPS one too. The E-Mail has links to various Map Providers including Google Maps, Yahoo Maps and Bing Maps . The recipients E-Mail Address can be set in Options - beGPS one (instead of Options - Communications, these dialog is not available with beGPS one).
Enhancements
GPS-Update
: The polling interval for the GPS Receiver was reduced from 5 to 1 seconds for higher tracking accuracy.
Bug fixes
Start Tracking
: When using a Bluetooth GPS Mouse beGPS will be automatically restarted when the Bluetooth Connection got lost. This is the only way to reestablish a lost Bluetooth connection. When the Tracking Mode was set to Start/Stop the tracking was not automatically started again. This is fixed now.
Multiple Installation
: Finally its now possible to install all Editions of beGPS at the same time. Its no longer required to remove a Edition before another one is installed.
1.2.0
New Features
Themes
: Its now possible to replace the 5 Main Screen Bitmaps with own ones. Therefore a bitmap including 10 images has to be drawn. The bitmap has to be stored as Custom.png in the beGPS folder on the SD card.
The file can also in JPEG or GIF format, but has to be named Custom.png. For the layout see Template.png. For BlackBerry Smartphones with screen resolutions less than 480 * 360 pixels only the middle area of the images will be used. For quality reason there is no scaling.

The menus will only be shown if the SD-Card is present, accessible (BlackBerry not connected to a PC!) and, in case of reading, if the configuration file is present.
Tip: The SC Card is not accessible if the BlackBerry Smartphone is connected to a PC via USB.
Display of Speed and Distance in metrical or imperial units. Configuration under Options - beGPS - Units.
Enhancements
Accept or Decline EULA via Menu.
Information "Supported GPS-Receiver" now correct for all known devices.
System Status shows the number of GPS (Cold- or Warm-) Starts to wakeup the GPS receiver in case the Operating System has switched off the Receiver to save battery life (see Bugs)
Bug fixes
Start of a new search for satellites after approximately 10 minutes without a valid location. The number of started scans will be shown in the System Status and there is a short popup message to inform the user. The popup closes automatically.
Technical Background: The BlackBerry Operation System switches off the GPS receiver after three unsuccessful scans for satellites to save battery life. Regarding an unofficial documentation each scan lasts 2 to 3 minutes. Because of a faulty implementation on most BlackBerry Smartphones an application will not, in difference to the API documentation, informed about that and will no longer receive valid location informations until another application (e.g. Options - Advanced Options - GPS) wakes up the GPS receiver. Furthermore an application can not access the GPS receivers power state and therefore can only make an assumption about the current state. If you are in an area without GPS signal the GPS receiver will now scan for satellites most of the time. This will shorten the battery life compared to previous versions of beGPS. Close beGPS if you do not need tracking.
Crash fixed when switching on the BlackBerry Smartphone after the phone was switched off for a while.
System Status is now showing correct informations for "Supported GPS Receiver" instead of "Unknown".
